In 1888, George S. Parker, frustrated with leaky and ill writing pens, established the Parker Pen Company. For over a century, The Parker Pen Company has designed and manufactured innovative writing instruments.
Of all the pens made over the years, Parker may very well be the most collectible of them all. We have listed below, in chronological order, just a few of the important dates in Parker product development history. This list is not complete by any stretch of the imagination!
- 1888 - Parker Pen Company established
- 1889 - First patent registered for over/under feed
- 1892 - Parker Pen Company is incorporated
- 1894 - Patent is registered for the Lucky Curve
- 1907 - Snake pen introduced
- 1917 - Washer clip first used
- 1921 - Duofold introduced
- 1926 - Permanite first used
- 1926 - DQ (Duofold Quality) pens introduced
- 1929 - Duofold changed to Streamline design
- 1931 - Quink Ink first sold
- 1932 - Parker Thrift-Time introduced
- 1933 - Vacumatic introduced
- 1934 - Parkette introduced
- 1935 - Challenger introduced
- 1941 - Arrival of the first 51 marks Parker's 51st year
- 1947 - VS introduced
- 1948 - Aerometric filler first used on the 51
